Historical Cocktail Class

Suggested Price: $10.00

Description

Interestingly, the time around the Civil War saw American bars come into their own and the popularization of the cocktail scene. In this class, we’ll take you through the history of the beginnings of mixed drinks and demonstrate a few featured cocktails of the time. This fun, educational workshop will be led by cocktail historian Brian Cushing. This class was a part of The Castle’s All Ages Virtual History Camp: United & Divided: 1860 – 1870s.

Recommended ages 21+

Provider: Brian Cushing

In his professional and private life, Brian Cushing has immersed himself in the details of daily life in the 19th Century for years. While acting as one of the researchers and planners for the small farm distillery project at Locust Grove in Louisville, Kentucky, he had the opportunity to get especially close to the history of distilled spirits which led to his own research and experiments on mixology throughout the Victorian Period.
