Get to know The Castle during the Volunteer Fair, where a variety of opportunities to join our volunteer team are on full display. Between 6 and 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 18 you can learn about giving tours of the museum, working with school field trips, joining archaeology digs, assisting with educational camps and offerings, and take a brief tour of The Castle. This event provides an intimate look at the multiple ways you can help others learn and enjoy history. Volunteer positions are available for all ages!
To learn more about one or several of these opportunities to become a Castle volunteer, come to The Castle, 418 Fourth St., at any time during the Volunteer Fair hours. Attendees also have a chance to win prizes, including a free, private, and behind-the-scenes tour of The Castle Museum and Mound Cemetery for you and three guests.
Information sessions and a brief tour of The Castle will take place every 15 minutes, beginning at 6 p.m. Tours will include a fun and interactive element to help you experience what it would be like to conduct your own tour. On the half hour, at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, and 7:30 p.m., an interactive discussion about assisting with educational activities when school field trips visit The Castle will take place. Throughout the evening you can visit with the archaeology team, view the dig units on the grounds and participate in various other educational event activities.
Volunteer forms will be available throughout the event, so when you find an area of special interest to you, you can join our volunteer team and get started right away.
