Virtual Third Thursday Talk: Fighting for Freedom: The Story of the USCT

Almost 200,000 Black soldiers fought for the Union during the Civil War. Their story is a unique chapter in the American conflict. These men were freedom fighters who fought for emancipation and for full citizenship rights. Join Anthony Gibbs as he brings to life the stories of these events through dramatic first person interpretation. Mr. Gibbs will discuss events significant to these men that led up to the Civil War, and what made them different from the other thousands who fought and died in the War Between the States.

This virtual offering is free. Donations are encouraged.

About the speaker: Anthony Gibbs has presented several history programs and character impressions for students of all ages. He captures his audiences with spellbinding performances that keep listeners on the edge of their seats. Anthony is a gifted storyteller and astute in his knowledge of historical content. The stories he brings to life are tales of great courage, tireless determination, and long-lasting hope.
