Tickets must be purchased by 4pm, Mon., Oct. 3
On this day-long bus trip, we will examine the expression of modernism and realism through the work of two Ohio artists: Clyde Singer, who has direct ties to Marietta, and Charles Burchfield. These sessions will include discussions about basic concepts of art and aesthetics, the “isms” of art history (e.g. Impressionism), a brief art history of Ohio, and the work of Singer and Burchfield.
The bus tour will visit Burchfield’s childhood home in Salem, Ohio, and the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, where we will view work by Singer and Burchfield, among others. On the way back to Marietta we will also make a brief “mystery stop” at a little-known historical site.
Included in the ticket price will be a catered lunch. Participants will be able to choose from several lunch options including vegetarian, and other dietary restrictions will be accommodated if possible.
