Third Thursday Talk: “On Military Leave with Flora Mason: A Marietta Musician’s WWI Experience” By Claire Crane – IN-PERSON

Thursday, October 21st 2021 – 7pm to 8pm – IN-PERSON TICKET

During the First World War, a conflict infamous for its inhumanity, over 3,000 American women travelled overseas with service organizations like the YMCA to serve soldiers hot chocolate, lead singalongs, give sightseeing tours, and dance the night away. In this presentation, Claire Crane will explore the significance of American women creating a home away from home “over there” by examining the experiences of Flora Mason, Marietta’s own “Y” woman, and the soldiers she may have served in 1918-1919 France.
