A Country Divided...The Civil War Impacts Marietta
Friday, June 1st 2012 to Thursday, August 30th 2012
The Castle will have special exhibits commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the the American Civil War. The Castle was the one-time home of three Civil War veterans, two of which were killed during their service. The Castle also has among its regular collections items from at least two more local Civil War officers.
This extraordinary Special Collection will feature some items from private and family collectors that have never been displayed in public before. We will have various photos, officers' field desks, historical documents (muster rolls, journals detailing orders and court martial proceedings of the 36th Ohio, company ledgers, etc.), rare artifacts, soldier's equipment and more.
All exhibits inside The Castle will have connections to Washington County Civil War veterans and their units.
