2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
This year's theme is "Women in Love: Romantic Twists in History" Throughout history there have been fascinating women who were influential through the powerful men in their lives. This year we will focus on those women.
The series will conclude with Empress Alexandra Feodorovna Romanov of Russia. Grandaughter of Queen Victoria, mother of Anastasia, she was probably best remembered as the wife of Nicholas II, the last Tsar of the Russian Empire. But, we will also remember this woman in love for her notorious friendship with mystic Grigori Rasputin.
The Empress will be portrayed by performance historian Craig Schermer. For more than 15 years Schermer has been portraying presidents, first ladies, and other historic personalities. He became interested in the last Russian Imperial Family in 1963. Alexandra Feodorovna always interested him as she was the most maligned Romanov of them all and yet hers is the most human and tragic story of them all. A mother fighting for her husband and son; a woman deeply and passionately in love with her husband and his country and who wanted only to do "good" and whose
love for God never wavered. Her intentions were selfless and noble but nonetheless disastrous. A very human woman.
Empress Alexandra will be sharing her life experiences in the parlor of The Castle Sunday at 2:00. P.M.
The afternoon will include tea and the Empress's favorite refreshments. Reservations are requested. The Castle phone number is 740-373-4180. Tickets are $10.00
