Herb Day

What a day this is going to be this year! We will once again have our herb sale on the north lawn and related items on the north porch. The workshops, demonstrations, Herb related gifts for sale, and door prizes will be happening all day long. And, of course, the luncheon will be held in the summer kitchen.

The luncheon will have a set menu of Vichysoisse Soup with floral garni and calendula crisps; a field greens salad with tarragon vinaigrette dressing; Basil/parmesan/muffin, Raspberry Sorbet and of course, Iced Earl Gray Tea.----all for $9.50.

The herb of the year is Calendula. The workshops will start at 9:30 with John Sims, Ohio Master Gardener, speaking about "Creating a Scented Garden."

At 10:30 the workshop will be on "Summer Long Color Using Perennials."

In the afternoon, at 1:15, Eric Barrett, OSU Extension Educator will speak on "Calendula: The Forgotten Herb."

The workshops are come as you can, but the luncheon will be by reservation. There will be two seatings -- one at 11:30 and one at 12:30. Please call the Carriage House (740-373-4180) for your party's reservation by Wednesday, May 7.

Jackie Goodman will have lotions, soaps, and leaf castings for your gift needs. Susie Brooker will have an array of hand-painted gourds for the person on your gift list that is difficult to buy for.
